How long does it take to create a custom engagement ring?
There are two critical elements to the design process for an engagement ring. First, you must design the setting for the ring, which can take as little as a few hours and can last weeks if you would like to explore multiple styles. The second element of the design is the selection of a gemstone. Choosing the type of gems you want to include, i.e. natural or lab-grown diamonds, sapphires, rubies, emeralds, or alternative gemstones like moissanite. Your jewelry designer should be able to offer a selection of gems for you to see in person and select the gemstones that you prefer. It may take a week or so to source and receive gemstones for you to see. Once the design is approved, production can take 3-8 weeks, depending on the complexity of the design. The entire process can take 4-12 weeks. See more about the entire process here.
Are custom engagement rings more expensive?
Pricing should be similar for comparable quality, metals, and gemstones between a custom engagement ring and a mass-produced engagement ring. In both a custom engagement ring and a mass-produced ring setting, the primary gemstone is selected separately, so the quality and size of the gemstone is a factor in cost. A custom engagement ring design is intended to produce a one of a kind ring.
What are lab-grown diamonds?
Chemically, physically, and optically the same as those grown beneath the Earth’s surface, a lab-created diamond is “grown” inside a lab using cutting-edge technology that replicates the natural diamond growing process.
