Finding the Correct Ring Size

Finding the perfect ring size is essential when it comes to comfort, aesthetics, and functionality. Wearing a ring that is too tight can cause discomfort, swelling, and even pain, while a ring that is too loose might slide off your finger and get lost. Furthermore, a ring that is not properly sized might look unbalanced or disproportionate on your finger, affecting its overall appearance. If you're buying an engagement or wedding ring, getting the size right is even more important.

How to Measure Ring Size at Home

Measuring your ring size at home is a convenient and cost-effective way to determine your size without having to visit a jeweler. Order a complimentary a ring sizer, which includes a plastic band indicating different sizes. Simply wrap it until it fits comfortably and snugly on your finger. The size indicated on the band is your size.

Each multi-sizer comes in an envelope with instructions and can be used over & over again.

Tips to make sure you order the correct ring size.

  • Measure when your body temperature is average, neither cold nor hot. A cold finger shrinks while a hot finger expands, causing inaccurate sizing.
  • If you can’t decide between two sizes, always choose the larger one.
  • A wider band needs a bigger size. If you are considering purchasing a wide band, move up a ¼ to ½ size from your measurement for comfort’s sake.
  • If you plan to stack rings such as wedding ring and engagement ring, you may consider increasing the size to accommodate the total width.
  • If your knuckle is much larger than the base of your finger, and you're using the finger sizer, measure both the base and your knuckle and select a size between the two.

Choosing the Right Ring Size for Different Types of Rings

Different types of rings require different sizing considerations, depending on their design and purpose. Here are some examples:

Engagement Rings

Engagement rings are typically worn every day, so it's essential to get the size right. Keep in mind that the size might change over time, due to weight fluctuations, pregnancy, or other factors. It's a good idea to get your engagement ring resized periodically to ensure a comfortable fit.

Wedding Bands

Wedding bands are often worn together with an engagement ring, so it's crucial to make sure that they fit well together. Consider the width and design of the bands, and make sure that they complement each other aesthetically.

Statement Rings

Statement rings are bold and eye-catching, and they can add a pop of color or texture to your outfit. When choosing the size for a statement ring, consider how you want it to fit on your finger. Some people prefer a looser fit for statement rings than for everyday rings.

Resizing Your Ring

If you've already purchased a ring that doesn't fit properly, don't worry! Most rings can be resized by a jeweler, either up or down, depending on the material and design. It's essential to work with a reputable jeweler like, Lisa Robin, who has experience in resizing rings, as the process can affect the integrity and appearance of the ring. Keep in mind that some designs, such as eternity bands or rings with intricate designs, might not be resizable.
