Astro combines three design elements on a single 8mm band: a flat brushed black titanium center, rose gold plated edges framing the center, and black sapphires set continuously around the band's circumference. The black sapphires don't sparkle the way colored sapphires or diamonds do — they read as deep dark accents against the surrounding black titanium and rose gold, producing a band with subtle visual rhythm rather than scintillating brilliance.

How do black sapphires differ from regular sapphires?

Black sapphires are the same mineral as colored sapphires — corundum, the same family as rubies — but with such high color saturation that the stone reads as fully opaque black rather than transparent blue, pink, or yellow. Unlike diamonds or transparent sapphires, black sapphires don't refract light into sparkle or fire; they read as deep matte black points against their surroundings. On the Astro, the black sapphires around the band's circumference produce subtle dark accents against the rose gold edges and black titanium center rather than the visible sparkle a diamond band would carry.

Can the ring be engraved?

Yes. We offer interior engraving up to 30 characters, with 8 font choices to select from during checkout. The engraving is done inside the band (visible to the wearer only) — most couples choose initials, a meaningful date, a short phrase, or coordinates. Engraving is not available on the outside of these alternative metal bands due to the construction of the materials.

Will the rose gold plating wear off over time?

Rose gold plating is a thin layer of rose gold applied to the titanium edge surfaces. Plating on alternative metals can wear through over years of daily contact — the underlying titanium would eventually show through the plating in high-wear areas. The actual timeline depends on how much daily contact the ring takes (manual labor, frequent hand-washing, contact with surfaces) and which finger the ring is worn on. For typical office and household wear, the plating holds up well for years; for heavy manual work, wear-through can happen sooner. Solid rose gold doesn't wear the same way, but the Astro uses plating rather than solid gold to keep the band at this price point.

Alternative metals cannot be resized like gold or platinum. If your finger size changes, we offer free size exchanges for the lifetime of your ring—just contact us to arrange.
Note: exchanges are for size only, not style, and any engraving or custom work will need to be redone at your expense.

Astro Flat Brushed Black Titanium and Rose Gold with Black Sapphire

Continuous stone setting around a band is usually reserved for eternity rings in gold or platinum. Astro brings it into alternative metal territory.

The 8mm black titanium center carries a flat brushed finish — soft matte texture across the band face. Rose gold plated edges frame the center on both sides, adding warm metallic color contrast against the dark titanium. Black sapphires set continuously around the band's circumference complete the composition. Black sapphires don't sparkle like diamonds or colored sapphires — they read as deep dark points against their surroundings, producing visual rhythm rather than scintillating brilliance. The combination is unusual: alternative metal construction with continuous stone setting and tri-color design at this price point.

The Astro joins a Lisa Robin tradition of men's alternative metal wedding bands designed for couples who choose performance and design over precious metal.

What to Know Before You Choose Your Alternative Metal Ring

Built to last a lifetime — here's what makes these rings different.

Tungsten, titanium, and ceramic wedding rings offer outstanding scratch resistance and a modern aesthetic that holds up over time. For men who are hard on their hands or prefer a low-maintenance ring, alternative metals are a practical and stylish choice.

Alternative metal rings are available in whole and half sizes. Because of the hardness of these materials, they cannot be resized after they are made. If you're unsure of your size, contact us — we'll send you a finger sizer before you order.

Alternative metals cannot be removed with a standard ring cutter in a medical emergency. It's a practical consideration worth factoring into your decision. Many couples choose gold or platinum for this reason — we're happy to talk through the options with you.
