The Olivia setting is then made to order around it — four prongs on a slim 1.8mm rounded band, in 14K yellow, white, or rose gold, crafted to fit that exact diamond and your finger. The emerald cut is step cut rather than brilliant: long parallel facets that give broad, slow flashes of light instead of rapid sparkle.

Is the diamond included, or do I select my own?

The diamond is included and already in stock — a 1.57 carat emerald cut lab created diamond, VVS2 clarity and E color. There's nothing to select and no separate center to source. The ring itself is still made for you. Once you choose your metal and finger size, the Olivia setting is crafted to order around that specific diamond, in approximately 3-4 weeks. If you'd rather choose your own diamond instead, the Olivia setting is offered on its own and we'll build around whatever you select.

What is an emerald cut, and how is it different from a brilliant?

An emerald cut is a step cut: long, parallel facets arranged like stairs, rather than the many small facets of a brilliant. The result is broad, slow flashes of light instead of rapid sparkle — an effect often described as a hall of mirrors. It reads calmer and more architectural than a round. It also hides nothing. A step cut shows its own interior, so an inclusion that a brilliant cut would break up into sparkle stays visible in an emerald. That's why clarity and color matter more in this shape than in any other, and why the diamond here is VVS2 and E.

Why pair an emerald cut with a plain solitaire setting?

Because an emerald cut is doing something a setting can only get in the way of. Its long facets need an uninterrupted plane to work — accent diamonds or a halo would break up the very stillness the cut exists to produce. Four prongs on a slim band hold it and stop there, which is why the plainest setting is often the right one for the most architectural shape.

Our guided approach to customizing each ring with intention and clarity.

Every Lisa Robin ring is made to order, which means your design can be thoughtfully refined—even when ordering online. Whether you’re adjusting a detail or evolving the design, we guide you through each decision to ensure the final piece feels cohesive and entirely yours.

Design Refinements can be explored after your initial order, with any pricing adjustments clearly outlined and approved before crafting begins.

Refinement options include but are not limited to:

  • Adjusting the width or taper of the band (shank)
  • Modifying or adding side diamonds for additional detail or presence
  • Changing the prong style (claw, round, double prong, etc.)
  • Adjusting the number of prongs for both aesthetic and structure
  • Refining the basket design for a different profile or overall look
  • Selecting your preferred metal type and color
  • Adapting the design to better coordinate with a wedding ring

The Olivia 1.57 Carat Emerald Cut Diamond Solitaire Ring

Choosing a diamond is the part that stalls most couples. There are too many variables, and no way to hold two of them side by side at once.

This one is already decided. A 1.57 carat emerald cut lab created diamond, VVS2 clarity and E color, in stock and waiting. What's left is the part worth deciding: the metal, and the fit.

From there the Olivia setting is made to order around that exact diamond. Four prongs on a slim 1.8mm rounded band, in 14K yellow, white, or rose gold, crafted to its measurements and to your finger. Nothing is pulled off a shelf.

An emerald cut asks more of a diamond than any other shape. It's step cut rather than brilliant — long parallel facets arranged like stairs, giving broad, slow flashes rather than rapid fire. That openness means there's nowhere to hide: a step cut shows its own interior, so an inclusion a brilliant cut would scatter into sparkle simply sits there in plain view. It's why this diamond is VVS2 and E — on an emerald cut, clarity and colorlessness aren't a flourish, they're the requirement.

The plain four-prong setting follows the same logic. Nothing interrupts the facets, and the diamond does exactly what it was cut to do.

The Olivia joins a Lisa Robin tradition of solitaire engagement rings designed for couples who want the diamond to speak for itself.

Design Process

The Lisa Robin Design Experience

A thoughtful process designed to bring clarity and confidence to the creation of your ring.

Online Ordering

Order your engagement ring through a clearly guided online experience, supported by in-depth educational resources throughout the website. If you’d like to personalize the setting, simply place your order—we’ll follow up to refine the details and align everything with your preferences.

Private Design Appointments

For a more collaborative experience, work with us one-on-one, either in person or virtually. We’ll guide you through each decision in real time, shaping your engagement ring with clarity and intention.

This ring is offered complete. The center is already selected and included in the price, so there's nothing further for you to source or choose.

Where the center is a one-of-a-kind gemstone, we'll send you an image of the actual gemstone before it's set — so you see the exact piece going into your ring rather than a representative photograph.

Before your ring is hand-crafted, you’ll review detailed renderings created using your diamond’s dimensions. Multiple views allow proportions and design details to be carefully reviewed, and you’ll approve the design before crafting begins. If a wedding ring is selected on the same order, renderings will also show the rings individually and together so you can see how they pair.

Once your design is approved, your ring is hand-crafted specifically for you and typically completed in about three weeks.
