How does the emerald Jaylin differ from the white diamond Jaylin?

The setting is the same: four clusters of three round diamonds at the quadrants, lifted on a cathedral band. The difference is the center. An emerald's green sits inside the white petals like the center of a flower, where a white diamond would read as continuous brilliance.

Which metal works best with an emerald center?

Yellow gold is the traditional pairing and makes the green read warmer and deeper. White gold and platinum keep the green crisp and slightly bluer, with the white diamonds blending into the metal. Rose gold gives the softest contrast. We can show you your emerald in each metal during a design appointment.

Is an emerald a good choice for an engagement ring I wear every day?

Yes, with care. Emerald is hard enough for daily wear but more sensitive to sharp knocks than sapphire or diamond. In the Jaylin, the raised clusters sit above the center and take most everyday contact. Remove it for heavy work and clean it with warm soapy water rather than an ultrasonic cleaner.

Our guided approach to customizing each ring with intention and clarity.

Every Lisa Robin ring is made to order, which means your design can be thoughtfully refined—even when ordering online. Whether you’re adjusting a detail or evolving the design, we guide you through each decision to ensure the final piece feels cohesive and entirely yours.

Design Refinements can be explored after your initial order, with any pricing adjustments clearly outlined and approved before crafting begins.

Refinement options include but are not limited to:

  • Adjusting the width or taper of the band (shank)
  • Modifying or adding side diamonds for additional detail or presence
  • Changing the prong style (claw, round, double prong, etc.)
  • Adjusting the number of prongs for both aesthetic and structure
  • Refining the basket design for a different profile or overall look
  • Selecting your preferred metal type and color
  • Adapting the design to better coordinate with a wedding ring
Made to order — Your emerald engagement ring ships in 3-4 weeks, approximately Dec 03 to Dec 07

A Halo Softened into Petals

Most halos are a closed ring. The Jaylin's four clusters sit at the quadrants instead, with open space between them, a flower rather than an outline.

Put an emerald at the center and the botany resolves: green in the middle of white petals is what a flower looks like from underneath. The four raised clusters stand above the center and take the everyday knocks a flat halo would pass to the emerald's edge.

Choose the emerald Jaylin if you want a botanical, romantic setting with your emerald visibly protected rather than flush with the band.

Frequently Asked Questions About Gemstone Engagement Rings

The most durable and traditional choices are sapphire, ruby, and moissanite — all 9 or above on the Mohs hardness scale, which handles everyday wear without protective settings. Emerald, aquamarine, and morganite (7.5-8 Mohs) are slightly softer and read best in bezels, halos, or settings with side accents that shield the gemstone.
Start with the color you want to see on your hand every day. From there, consider hardness for your lifestyle — sapphire and ruby for hands-on daily wear, softer beryls (emerald, aquamarine, morganite) for protective settings. Symbolism is the third filter: each gemstone carries centuries of meaning, and the right one often resonates without needing to be argued for.
Yes — when matched to the right setting. Sapphire and ruby (Mohs 9) handle anything. Emerald, aquamarine, and morganite (Mohs 7.5-8) are best protected by bezels, halos, or settings that shield the corners and crown. The setting style matters as much as the gemstone choice for softer gemstones.
Sapphire — especially blue sapphire — is by far the most chosen colored gemstone for engagement rings, in part because it shares diamond's hardness and in part because of its long association with royalty and lasting commitment. Emerald and ruby follow, with morganite gaining popularity in the past decade for its romantic blush and rose gold pairing.
It depends on the gemstone, the quality, and the origin. Lab-created sapphires, rubies, and moissanites can cost a fraction of a comparable diamond. Fine natural Kashmir sapphires, Burmese rubies, and Colombian emeralds can match or exceed diamond pricing per carat. Aquamarine and morganite typically come in well below diamond pricing across the board.
Sapphire signifies loyalty and wisdom. Ruby signifies passion and vitality. Emerald signifies renewal and heart-centered love. Aquamarine signifies clarity and harmony. Morganite signifies compassion and unconditional love. Moissanite, the newest of the six, carries no ancient symbolism but is often chosen for its conscious origins and accessibility.
Daily wear is fine for harder gemstones (sapphire, ruby, moissanite) and acceptable for softer ones (emerald, aquamarine, morganite) when set protectively. Remove your ring before heavy manual work or chemicals. Clean with warm soapy water and a soft brush. Emerald specifically should never be cleaned in ultrasonic cleaners — the inclusions are fragile.
Yes. Lisa Robin offers both natural gemstones (sourced from ethical mines) and lab-created gemstones with identical chemistry and durability. Natural gemstones carry origin stories and rarity premiums; lab-created gemstones offer larger size or higher saturation for the same budget. Each gem in this collection can be sourced either way.
It depends on the gemstone's color. Cooler gemstones (blue sapphire, aquamarine, deep emerald) read classic against white gold and platinum. Warmer gemstones (yellow sapphire, ruby, peach morganite) glow against yellow gold. Pink and peach gemstones warm against rose gold. The metal frames the color — every combination shifts the gemstone.
Approximately 3-4 weeks from final design approval. Every Lisa Robin colored gemstone engagement ring is made to order — there is no warehouse inventory. The timeline is the same whether you choose a signature design or a fully custom piece.
