Helix machines a gear teeth pattern across the band face — a continuous series of interlocking notches that read as a mechanical rhythm around the finger. The band combines black ceramic (across the patterned face) with tungsten construction, available in 6mm, 8mm, or 10mm widths. The pattern catches light differently from each angle as the ring rotates.

What does the gear teeth pattern do visually?

The gear teeth pattern is a series of interlocking notches machined continuously around the band — visually similar to the teeth of an engineering gear. Each notch catches light differently as the ring rotates on the finger, producing a band that reads as rhythmic and mechanical rather than smooth or polished. The pattern is permanent — machined into the ceramic and tungsten construction rather than coated on top — so it stays sharp through years of daily wear. The visual character is industrial: the ring reads as engineered rather than ornamental.

Can the ring be engraved?

Yes. We offer interior engraving up to 30 characters, with 8 font choices to select from during checkout. The engraving is done inside the band (visible to the wearer only) — most couples choose initials, a meaningful date, a short phrase, or coordinates. Engraving is not available on the outside of these alternative metal bands due to the construction of the materials.

Which width should I choose for the Helix?

The Helix is available in 6mm, 8mm, and 10mm widths — same material and same gear teeth pattern, scaled differently. The 6mm reads as a standard daily wedding band width with the pattern at refined scale. The 8mm is closer to traditional men's wedding band width and gives the gear teeth pattern more presence. The 10mm is statement width — the pattern reads as a substantial mechanical detail across a wide band. Most buyers choose 8mm; couples wanting more or less band presence go up or down from there.

Alternative metals cannot be resized like gold or platinum. If your finger size changes, we offer free size exchanges for the lifetime of your ring—just contact us to arrange.
Note: exchanges are for size only, not style, and any engraving or custom work will need to be redone at your expense.

Helix Gear Teeth Pattern Black Ceramic and Tungsten Ring

Industrial design has its own vocabulary — geometric repetition, machined precision, mechanical rhythm. The Helix uses it directly.

Gear teeth machined continuously across the band face produce a pattern that reads as engineering rather than ornament. The notches catch light from different angles as the ring rotates, giving the band visual movement that a smooth finish can't replicate. Black ceramic and tungsten provide the structural foundation — both materials are engineered for durability, and the gear teeth pattern is machined into the construction rather than applied as a coating. The result is a wedding band that reads as mechanically deliberate, scales to three widths, and stays sharp through long-term daily wear.

The Helix joins a Lisa Robin tradition of men's alternative metal wedding bands designed for couples who choose performance and design over precious metal.

Design Process

What to Know Before You Choose Your Alternative Metal Ring

Built to last a lifetime — here's what makes these rings different.

Tungsten, titanium, and ceramic wedding rings offer outstanding scratch resistance and a modern aesthetic that holds up over time. For men who are hard on their hands or prefer a low-maintenance ring, alternative metals are a practical and stylish choice.

Alternative metal rings are available in whole and half sizes. Because of the hardness of these materials, they cannot be resized after they are made. If you're unsure of your size, contact us — we'll send you a finger sizer before you order.

Alternative metals cannot be removed with a standard ring cutter in a medical emergency. It's a practical consideration worth factoring into your decision. Many couples choose gold or platinum for this reason — we're happy to talk through the options with you.
