The Nova Green Emerald East-West Bezel Engagement Ring

The Nova is an east-west bezel that lays the emerald sideways across the band — horizontal, low, and modern in a way that vertical settings can never be.

The Nova lays an oval emerald east-west and closes a full bezel around it — for a gem this soft and inclusion-rich, an unbroken rim protecting every edge is the most practical frame there is, and it keeps the green low and calm on the hand.

Emerald draws its green from a trace of chromium in the beryl — what makes an emerald green.

Metal Options 14K Yellow Gold, 14K White Gold, 14K Rose Gold, or Platinum. Sustainably sourced.
Center Oval emerald, set east-west
Style East-west bezel emerald engagement ring
Setting Full bezel
Crafting Time Approximately 3-4 weeks

Setting starts at $2,395 in 14K gold and $2,795 in platinum.

How does the Nova east-west bezel differ from a vertical solitaire?

The Nova lays the emerald sideways — east-west across the band — and wraps it in a continuous bezel instead of prongs. The horizontal orientation reads modern and architectural, sitting lower on the finger than a vertical solitaire.

Why does the bezel matter on an east-west setting like the Nova?

The Nova's bezel wraps the emerald in a continuous metal frame, keeping the horizontal silhouette clean and protecting the stone from catching on fabric. Prongs would visually interrupt the east-west line of the band.

What's the best emerald engagement ring style for someone who wants color carried throughout the design?

The Nova makes the emerald part of the architecture rather than ornament. The east-west bezel design integrates the green emerald into the structure, suiting couples who want color carried by deliberate design rather than set against it.

Our guided approach to customizing each ring with intention and clarity.

Every Lisa Robin ring is made to order, which means your design can be thoughtfully refined—even when ordering online. Whether you’re adjusting a detail or evolving the design, we guide you through each decision to ensure the final piece feels cohesive and entirely yours.

Design Refinements can be explored after your initial order, with any pricing adjustments clearly outlined and approved before crafting begins.

Refinement options include but are not limited to:

  • Adjusting the width or taper of the band (shank)
  • Modifying or adding side diamonds for additional detail or presence
  • Changing the prong style (claw, round, double prong, etc.)
  • Adjusting the number of prongs for both aesthetic and structure
  • Refining the basket design for a different profile or overall look
  • Selecting your preferred metal type and color
  • Adapting the design to better coordinate with a wedding ring

East-West, Low, and Quietly Modern

Most engagement rings stand the center upright. The Nova lays it down.

An oval set east-west runs across the finger instead of along it. The ring stops pointing and starts spanning — wider, lower, and considerably harder to knock, because there's nothing standing up to catch. The full bezel finishes the argument: a continuous rim of metal rather than prongs, so nothing protrudes at all.

Of every gemstone in this collection, emerald has the most to gain from that. Emerald is 7.5 to 8 on the Mohs scale and carries jardin — French for garden — the network of internal fractures that would be flaws in anything else and are simply what emerald is. Those fractures make it more vulnerable to a knock than its hardness alone suggests. A bezel wraps the entire edge; a prong setting leaves it exposed at four points and lifts it into harm's way.

This is the most protective setting we make, on the gemstone that most benefits from it.

Frequently Asked Questions About Lisa Robin Engagement Rings

Lisa Robin designs custom and made-to-order engagement rings across every major style — solitaire, halo, hidden halo, side stone, three stone, cluster, bezel, east-west, vintage, and twist. Each design can be set with a colorless diamond, a colored diamond, or a colored gemstone, in any shape, in 14K gold or platinum.
Settings in this collection start at $2,095. Paired with a 1 carat lab grown diamond center, a starting engagement ring is approximately $2,995. Final pricing depends on the design, the metal, and the diamond or gemstone you choose. Colored gemstone pricing varies by gem type, color, and origin, which we discuss during the design process.
Yes. You can personalize any design online — diamond, metal, and finger size — or book a private design appointment by Zoom, phone, or in studio to modify a design or create one from scratch. Lisa guides you through the process and you see renderings of your ring before it is crafted.
Each ring is made to order and ready in approximately 3-4 weeks from the time your design is approved.
Both are real diamonds with identical physical and optical properties. A lab grown diamond is created in a controlled setting and generally lets you reach a larger or higher-quality diamond for the same budget. A natural diamond forms over geologic time. The choice is yours.
It depends on how you want the diamond to sit on your hand. A solitaire puts the diamond first; a halo makes it read larger; a hidden halo adds sparkle only seen from the side; a bezel gives the most secure, modern line; a cluster or twist makes a more individual statement. Because every design is hand-crafted to your diamond, you can pair most styles with most shapes.
All four — 14K yellow, white, and rose gold, and platinum — wear well for daily use. White gold and platinum give the brightest, most neutral backdrop for a diamond. Yellow and rose gold add warmth around the center. The best choice is the tone you want to see on your hand.
