Baroque combines two design vocabularies on a single 8mm black titanium band: a diamond pattern brushed finish across the band face (geometric, machined, industrial) and gold milgrain detail running through grooved channels (traditional, ornamental, antique-inspired). The black titanium reads modern; the gold milgrain reads heritage. Together they produce a band that doesn't belong cleanly to either design tradition.

What is milgrain, and what is it doing on a titanium band?

Milgrain is a fine pattern of small metal beads traditionally applied along the edges of Victorian, Edwardian, and Art Deco jewelry — it's a heritage detail associated with antique fine jewelry rather than modern industrial wedding bands. The Baroque uses gold milgrain through grooved channels in the black titanium construction specifically because of that contrast: the industrial black titanium reads modern and engineered, while the gold milgrain reads as traditional ornament. The combination produces a band that's deliberately not committed to either design vocabulary — a hybrid of industrial and heritage detail.

Can the ring be engraved?

Yes. We offer interior engraving up to 30 characters, with 8 font choices to select from during checkout. The engraving is done inside the band (visible to the wearer only) — most couples choose initials, a meaningful date, a short phrase, or coordinates. Engraving is not available on the outside of these alternative metal bands due to the construction of the materials.

Will the gold milgrain wear off over time?

The gold milgrain is set into grooved channels in the black titanium construction — recessed below the band's outer surface rather than sitting on top of it. The recessed positioning protects the gold from direct daily contact, which is what causes wear on raised gold detail. Under normal daily wear, the milgrain holds up well over years. Significant impact to the band's outer surface (extreme contact sports, manual labor with bare hands) could affect the channels over time. For typical daily wear including office work, light physical activity, and household tasks, the milgrain stays intact.

Alternative metals cannot be resized like gold or platinum. If your finger size changes, we offer free size exchanges for the lifetime of your ring—just contact us to arrange.
Note: exchanges are for size only, not style, and any engraving or custom work will need to be redone at your expense.

Baroque Black Titanium Men's Wedding Ring with Gold

Modern and heritage are usually opposing design choices in a wedding band. Baroque combines them deliberately.

The black titanium frame is engineered — diamond pattern brushed finish across the band face, industrial in design vocabulary, modern in material choice. The gold milgrain set into grooved channels is heritage — traditionally applied along Victorian and Art Deco jewelry, recognizable as a detail from antique fine jewelry rather than industrial wedding bands. The combination is what makes the Baroque unusual: a black titanium men's wedding band wouldn't normally carry gold milgrain detail, and gold milgrain wouldn't normally appear on a brushed diamond-pattern titanium band. The two design vocabularies meet on a single 8mm ring and produce something that belongs to neither.

The Baroque joins a Lisa Robin tradition of men's alternative metal wedding bands designed for couples who choose performance and design over precious metal.

What to Know Before You Choose Your Alternative Metal Ring

Built to last a lifetime — here's what makes these rings different.

Tungsten, titanium, and ceramic wedding rings offer outstanding scratch resistance and a modern aesthetic that holds up over time. For men who are hard on their hands or prefer a low-maintenance ring, alternative metals are a practical and stylish choice.

Alternative metal rings are available in whole and half sizes. Because of the hardness of these materials, they cannot be resized after they are made. If you're unsure of your size, contact us — we'll send you a finger sizer before you order.

Alternative metals cannot be removed with a standard ring cutter in a medical emergency. It's a practical consideration worth factoring into your decision. Many couples choose gold or platinum for this reason — we're happy to talk through the options with you.
