Why set an emerald cut diamond east-west?

Turned sideways, an emerald cut covers more of the width of your finger and less of its length, so it reads as a horizontal line rather than a long one. The step facets run across your hand, and the ring looks less expected than the same diamond set north-south. Any shape with a long side can be set this way; the emerald cut shows it most clearly because its corners and steps are straight.

What is a trillion diamond?

A trillion is a triangular diamond. Set beside a center diamond with one flat side facing it, a trillion continues the outline of the center and ends in a point, so the three diamonds read as one shape. Beside a step cut like the emerald, the straight edges of the trillions keep the whole ring geometric.

What wedding ring fits beside the Sloane?

The center sits at a medium height on cathedral sides, so a slim flat band can sit close beneath it. If you want diamonds in the wedding ring as well, the Reese's flush-set dome stays low, and a contoured band like the Zoey follows the outline of the setting. Bring the ring to a design appointment and we can try the pairings on your hand before deciding.

Our guided approach to customizing each ring with intention and clarity.

Every Lisa Robin ring is made to order, which means your design can be thoughtfully refined—even when ordering online. Whether you’re adjusting a detail or evolving the design, we guide you through each decision to ensure the final piece feels cohesive and entirely yours.

Design Refinements can be explored after your initial order, with any pricing adjustments clearly outlined and approved before crafting begins.

Refinement options include but are not limited to:

  • Adjusting the width or taper of the band (shank)
  • Modifying or adding side diamonds for additional detail or presence
  • Changing the prong style (claw, round, double prong, etc.)
  • Adjusting the number of prongs for both aesthetic and structure
  • Refining the basket design for a different profile or overall look
  • Selecting your preferred metal type and color
  • Adapting the design to better coordinate with a wedding ring

The Sloane East-West Emerald Cut Three Stone Engagement Ring

The Sloane East-West Emerald Cut Three Stone Engagement Ring

A three stone ring is usually read as past, present and future, laid in a row along the finger. The Sloane keeps the three and changes the direction: the emerald cut center turns sideways, so its long, mirror-like steps run across your hand instead of along it.

The trillions finish each end with a point. Their flat sides face the center, so the three diamonds read as one shape, wider than it is tall.

Cathedral sides lift the setting to a medium height, enough to show the profile without standing far above a wedding ring. It sits beside a slim flat band, a contoured band, or a domed band of diamonds and keeps its line with each.

Frequently Asked Questions About Lab-Grown Diamond Engagement Rings

Lab-grown diamond engagement rings feature diamonds that are created in a laboratory rather than mined from the earth. At Lisa Robin, each diamond becomes the centerpiece of a ring designed not just for you, but with you, putting personal story, intention, and artistry at the heart of every setting.
Lab-grown diamonds are formed using advanced technological processes that replicate the natural conditions under which diamonds develop. There are two primary methods: High Pressure-High Temperature (HPHT) and Chemical Vapor Deposition (CVD). Crystals with the same physical and chemical properties as mined diamonds, ready to be shaped into your story’s singular spark.
Absolutely. Lab-grown diamonds are real diamonds, both chemically and optically identical to those sourced from the earth. Your engagement ring carries the same brilliance and durability, but with a layer of intentionality and transparency that feels distinctly modern.
Generally, yes. Lab-grown diamonds are typically priced lower than comparable natural diamonds, which means more of your budget can go toward the aspects that matter most to you. For example, these extra funds are usually allocated to the size and quality of your diamond. Custom settings are not inherently more expensive than standard ones, so choosing a lab diamond simply gives you greater flexibility to create a ring that feels personal and beautifully aligned with your vision.
To the naked eye, and even with traditional jewelers' tools, lab-grown and natural diamonds are indistinguishable. Only sophisticated laboratory equipment can reveal their origin. What stands out in a Lisa Robin ring is always the story you share, not its source.
Lab-grown diamonds are widely recognized as a more ethical and environmentally gentle choice. At Lisa Robin, we are committed to ethical sourcing and transparency across all materials, championing lab diamonds as a conscious design decision that aligns with your values as much as your style.
Lab-grown diamonds can have natural inclusions, just like mined diamonds. Each diamond—whether mined or cultivated—has its own unique birthmark, adding one more detail to celebrate in your one-of-a-kind ring. Our design team will guide you in selecting a stone that resonates with you in every aspect.
