The Fable Victorian Style Green Diamond Engagement Ring

A green diamond engagement ring that layers four Victorian period details where most vintage rings borrow just one: a bezel set pear shaped center, milgrain edges, an asymmetric accent flourish, and a sculpted leaf and vine band. Quiet, romantic, and unmistakably period.

The Fable is a Victorian engagement ring built around a bezel-set green diamond center. The bezel's edge carries milgrain — a fine line of beaded metal — and the same beading repeats on the petal basket below. A marquise and a round accent diamond gather to one side, an off-center cluster that breaks symmetry the way a leaf interrupts a stem. The 2.8mm band is a leaf and vine shank: sculpted, organic, with accent diamonds set into its curves. As a pear shaped engagement ring, the bezel guards the pear's fine point while the milgrain traces its outline.

How does the Fable differ from the Kallely or from a typical vintage style engagement ring?

The Fable shares the Kallely's asymmetric accent geometry but translates that gesture into Victorian botanical vocabulary. The leaf and vine shank, milgrain on bezel and petal basket, and green diamond center give it a different feel entirely.

What does milgrain add to an engagement ring, and why is it important to Victorian style?

Milgrain is the row of tiny metal beads running along the edge of a bezel or band. On the Fable, it runs along the bezel framing the green diamond and the petal basket beneath it.

What is a Victorian style engagement ring, and what details define the period?

A Victorian style engagement ring draws from 1837-1901 design: milgrain edges, bezel settings, botanical motifs, openwork baskets, asymmetric accents, and colored center stones. The Fable layers four of these together — milgrain, openwork, botanical shank, and bezel setting.

Our guided approach to customizing each ring with intention and clarity.

Every Lisa Robin ring is made to order, which means your design can be thoughtfully refined—even when ordering online. Whether you’re adjusting a detail or evolving the design, we guide you through each decision to ensure the final piece feels cohesive and entirely yours.

Design Refinements can be explored after your initial order, with any pricing adjustments clearly outlined and approved before crafting begins.

Refinement options include but are not limited to:

  • Adjusting the width or taper of the band (shank)
  • Modifying or adding side diamonds for additional detail or presence
  • Changing the prong style (claw, round, double prong, etc.)
  • Adjusting the number of prongs for both aesthetic and structure
  • Refining the basket design for a different profile or overall look
  • Selecting your preferred metal type and color
  • Adapting the design to better coordinate with a wedding ring

Victorian Romance, Built from Botanical Detail

Most engagement rings borrow one period detail and call it vintage. Victorian jewelry didn't work that way — Victorian designers layered milgrain, openwork, asymmetric botanical motifs, and bezel settings together until the ring became a small narrative about romance and nature rather than a single ornament. The Fable was designed to honor that layering. Every element belongs to the same period vocabulary.

The shank carries the story outward. At 2.8mm, the leaf and vine band has enough breadth to hold its curling organic detail and the accent diamonds tucked along it, yet stays light enough to read as a growing thing rather than a sculpted ring. Where the band rises to meet the bezel, the asymmetric accent cluster sits like new growth at the base of a stem.

A green center completes the thought. The botanical vocabulary is already there in the milgrain, the petal basket, and the leaf and vine shank — a green diamond at the middle is the color that vocabulary was always pointing toward, so the ring reads as one idea rather than a setting with a colored center dropped into it.

The Fable joins a Lisa Robin tradition of vintage and period-inspired engagement rings, designed for the couple who wants their ring to hold a story.

More about Lisa Robin green diamond engagement rings

A green diamond engagement ring features a green diamond as the center stone instead of a colorless diamond. Green diamonds get their color from prolonged exposure to natural radiation deep in the earth, which alters the diamond's atomic structure. They have the same Mohs 10 hardness and full brilliance as colorless diamonds, with body color ranging from soft mint to deep forest green. They're a real diamond in every measurable sense, with color a colorless stone cannot deliver.
Green diamond engagement ring settings start at $1,895. A 1 carat lab grown green diamond brings most rings to roughly $2,795 fully built — the same baseline as our colorless diamond rings. Natural fancy green diamonds with body color throughout the stone are extraordinarily rare and price significantly higher — often reserved for private collectors rather than retail inventory. We share itemized pricing for every quote.
Yes. Natural green diamonds with body color (rather than just surface coloration from radiation exposure) are among the rarest colored diamonds in existence. Most natural green diamonds have only a thin skin of green color that disappears if the stone is recut. True body-color natural green diamonds are extraordinarily scarce. Lab grown green diamonds are chemically and optically identical with consistent body color throughout the stone, making this distinctive color accessible.
Cushion, radiant, and oval cuts hold the most color saturation because their faceting traps the body color. Emerald cuts let you see into the diamond's depth, which is striking in green and reinforces the color's natural-gemstone associations. Round brilliants show color more subtly. Marquise and pear add motion. We help you match shape to your tone and saturation preference during design.
Both work — they create different effects. Yellow gold deepens the earthy character and reads as one continuous warm-natural tone. White gold and platinum heighten contrast, making the green read more distinctly against cool metal. Rose gold creates an unexpected, romantic pairing some couples specifically want. We mock options up before you decide.
3–4 weeks from the day your order is finalized. Diamond selection, CAD review, casting, setting, and inspection happen in that window. We keep you informed at every milestone.
