Shire's titanium construction carries a brushed center across the band face and polished beveled edges on either side. The brushed center reads as a soft matte texture; the polished edges read as bright reflective frames around it. Available in 6mm or 8mm widths, the ring stays lightweight in titanium while reading as a substantial daily wedding band.

Why choose titanium for a wedding band?

Titanium is significantly lighter than gold, platinum, or tungsten — about half the weight of tungsten and a third of platinum. Many wearers find titanium more comfortable for daily wear because the ring doesn't carry noticeable weight on the finger. Titanium is also hypoallergenic (won't trigger metal allergies), corrosion-resistant (won't tarnish or react to water, sweat, or chemicals), and durable for daily wear. It's softer than tungsten (about 6 on the Mohs scale versus tungsten's 8.5-9), which means titanium can pick up fine scratches over time, but it's significantly more impact-tolerant than tungsten.

Can the ring be engraved?

Yes. We offer interior engraving up to 30 characters, with 8 font choices to select from during checkout. The engraving is done inside the band (visible to the wearer only) — most couples choose initials, a meaningful date, a short phrase, or coordinates. Engraving is not available on the outside of these alternative metal bands due to the construction of the materials.

Will a titanium ring scratch easily?

Titanium can develop fine surface scratches over years of daily wear — the material is softer than tungsten or ceramic. The brushed center finish on the Shire actually disguises minor scratches better than a polished surface would, since the existing brushed texture blends with new fine scratches. The polished beveled edges will show wear more visibly over very long-term use, but most wearers find this consistent with the character of a daily wedding band. Titanium scratches can be polished out by a jeweler when needed — the ring can be refinished rather than replaced.

Alternative metals cannot be resized like gold or platinum. If your finger size changes, we offer free size exchanges for the lifetime of your ring—just contact us to arrange.
